2017 MINI Countryman

The newest MINI Cooper to join the MINI lineup is the largest, and most versatile, Cooper in the company's history. The new 2017 Countryman keeps everything that makes driving a MINI fun and fresh, while expanding the vehicle's dimensions to make it more accessible to those looking for the MINI experience but with a bit more room. 

MINI decided to give a few more options to the Countryman for the 2017 refresh, which includes a choice between a 3-cylinder motivator and a 4-cylinder. 

The 2017 Countryman comes with either a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-3 that nets 134 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, a slightly larger turbocharged, 189-hp 2.0-liter inline-4 in the Cooper S version paired to an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. We also see the option for both front wheel drive and MINI's proprietary all-wheel drive system, ALL4, in the sport versions of the Countryman. 

Making the 2017 Countryman stand out is its size - not that it's small in stature like its siblings, but that it's noticeably and purposefully larger. The 2017 Countryman is 7.4 inches longer, 1.3 inches wider, and rolls on a wheelbase 2.9 inches longer. It may not look like much from the outside, but when you step inside or get behind the wheel the changes are readily apparent. There's room in both front and back for adults to sit comfortably, with both head and leg room being upped to make for a more comfortable ride, and increased cargo room throughout. Also noticeable is the improvement in material quality throughout the cabin with a more upscale and luxury feel while retaining the playfulness and unique quality that defines a MINI Cooper. 

Standard features for the 2017 Mini Countryman include numerous power features, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, infotainment with 6.5-inch display, 17-in (18-in for Cooper S) wheels, and automatic headlights and windshield wipers.
